About

Most companies between 20 and 200 people have the same technology problem: they’ve outgrown winging it, but they’re not ready – or can’t justify – a full-time CTO at $250K+. The technical debt is accumulating, the team isn’t quite delivering, and nobody’s sure whether they have an architecture problem, a people problem, or a process problem. Usually it’s all three.

I’m Fred Yeomans. I’ve been solving that problem for 40 years, across sectors from satellite systems and military software to enterprise platforms and SaaS products. For the last 25 of those years I’ve been in senior technical leadership roles. I currently work as a fractional CTO – strategic and hands-on, without the full-time overhead.

I’ve watched client-server give way to web services, web services give way to the cloud, and now I’m watching the cloud era get complicated by AI. Each wave generates the same pattern: vendor hype, executive panic, rushed adoption, and eventual rationalisation. The companies that come through it well have someone in the room who’s seen the movie before. That perspective is what this site is built around.

Monday Morning CTO publishes every week – one substantive post on Monday, sometimes a shorter follow-on mid-week. The content is practitioner-focused: specific situations, concrete reasoning, positions I’ll actually defend. Not frameworks for their own sake, not vendor cheerleading, not breathless coverage of whatever was announced last Friday.

If your technology is either holding you back or about to, let’s talk.
